New Glass Flask for Air Samples and other Gases
Our company manufactures glass flasks to keep air samples for the
Max-Planck-Institute of Bio-Geo-Chemistry in Jena, Germany. The sometimes
extreme circumstances during the sample taking, long periods of intermediate
storage of the filled glass flasks and the needed precise measurement
results form the high demands for this product. All these requirements are
considered in this sophisticated product.
A special challenge was to develop a valve which has in closed status a very
low permeability in face to gases as N2, O2, H2o and Co2. Furthermore the
valve should have an exchangeable valve stamp, must be easy to handle and it
must have an exact pressing point guaranteeing a reliable sealing. Due to
the close and excellent co-operation between our company and the
Max-Planck-Institute of Bio-Geo-Chemistry a completely new valve has been
developed. Mainly the use of a sealing element made of PCTFE (=Kel-F)
improves the storability of the air samples.
The glass flask is covered with a hose, what minimizes the risk of injury if
the flask is broken and gives the possibility for a repair, e.g. broken
valve.
